Cures for Snoring

If you counteract any of the causes of snoring, snoring will decrease if not stop. So the key to finding a cure to snoring is in finding the cause and fixing it. For example, if you have an obstruction of tissue that is causing the snoring, then you have the obstruction removed or at least modified. Most likely the easiest way to cure this would be through known surgeries, such as a tonsillectomy or adenectomy. If the tissues are there due to being overweight then lose weight.

If surgery is the way to go you will find there are many different types of surgeries that can be used to alleviate the problem, if the problem is from unwanted or excessive tissues. Some of the surgeries will actually use an instrument to scour these tissues away or simply cut them out. Still another type of surgery will disintegrate the tissue or the muscles that are causing the problem with electricity and then the body will rid or reabsorb it. If the main cause of the snoring is found to be a deviated septum (This septum is the part of the nose that separates the two airways and the nostrils. If it is not center then it will cause air flow problems) a surgery is done to reposition the septum into its correct and natural position.

Mouth breathing is a problem all its own. It is not something you can just fix with surgery or put a snoring device on. It takes experimentation to find the thing that works for you. The best way to take care of this cause of snoring is if you can retrain yourself to breath through your nose. This is not an easy task at all as you are asleep. But they do have a variety of products over the counter that will aid you.

Probably the easiest problem to resolve is nasal passage narrowing. There are many products you can get at your local drug store that will maximize the size of your nostrils. You would make use of nasal clips that pull the nose open, straps to expand the channel or even devices you place inside the nose to stretch the open wider. Try and find one that is comfortable to you and give it two weeks before you change to the next thing.

The choice of surgery as a cure for snoring should be taken seriously and with great thought. Talk it over with the doctor until you are satisfied with what is going to happen. Careful examination of your problem will be needed before anything can be done. Your main goal is to achieve better breathing with less noise.
